Pizza Stocking FUN!

Birthdays and Christmas parties are the best part of childhood because it’s like you’re completely in charge. You get to make all the decisions as long as they’re safe and you get to be as silly as you want. Your favorite items, your favorite gifts, your favorite place, your favorite people and most importantly your favorite food. The most important things about a birthday or christmas party is making sure the food is perfect and the location is perfect because those elements can make your birthday party the best.

Everyone knows every child’s favorite is PIZZA! However some children do love their pizzas extra special and some do only like the simple cheesy pizza. Nonetheless pizza is always a child’s top choice for what they like and the first thing they want on the menu. Pizza is so convenient for parties because it only takes some bread and cheese and pizza sauce and BOOM you have a pizza recipe.

If I could create the perfect birthday party for myself it would be at Pier 62 Carousel at Hudson River Park. The carousel is so pretty, the space has been modernized and reformed since the 20th century. It’s turned the pier to a brand new beautiful space that would be perfect for a party. On the menu at my birthday would be nothing but pizza but I’d make a special pizza request to Pier 62 carousel that all my pizza’s be cut into pizza stockings. I’d want my pizza to reflect my two favorite holidays so christmas and pizza altogether equals the cutest pizza stockings with pepperoni as the design on the stocking. It’s perfect!

It’s a simple recipe to make the pizza stockings. All you need is refrigerated pizza crust, 2 tablespoons of olive oil 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of italian seasoning, a pinch of salt, 2 cups of pizza sauce, 2 cups of shredded mozzarella, 1 cup of mini pepperoni, and basil or parsley. Then of course you’ll need a stocking cookie cutter to make your stocking slices. Preheat oven to 400° and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Using a cookie cutter, stamp out stockings out of the pizza dough. In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, garlic powder, italian seasoning and salt. Brush mixture onto each pizza dough stocking, then spread a spoonful of sauce onto each piece. Decorate with cheese and mini pepperoni. Bake until the cheese has melted and the dough is golden. Garnish with basil and serve warm.

Be sure to book your birthday party with the Pier 62 carousel. Try their pizza at your birthday party and you may come up with a cool recipe of your own to try with pizza for your next event.
